Today I have put togethers some awesome facts about Australia. I created this post because Australia is such a weird and wonderful place.

1. Over 200 different languages and dialects are spoken in Australia including 45 Indigenous languages. The most common non-English spoken languages are Italian, Greek, Cantonese, Arabic, Vietnamese and Mandarin.

2. Kangaroo meat can be purchased from the supermarket, butcher and available on restaurant menus as a leaner and healthier alternative to beef or lamb.

3. Australia is the sports capital of the world as it has 70 percent of the total population participating at least once a week in a particular active activities or sport

4. Australia was the second country in the world to give women the right to vote in 1902.

5. The biggest property in Australia is bigger than Belgium.

6. Each week at least 70 tourists overstay their visas as they want to stay in Australia.

7. Australia has 3.3x more sheep than people.

8. Australia is the only continent in the world without an active volcano.

9. 96% of the country is covered by native growth.

10. In 2005, security guards at Canberra’s Parliament House were banned from calling people ‘mate’. It only lasted one day.

Today I have put togethers some awesome facts about the Harry potter books and movies.

1. The actress who played Moaning Myrtle was 37 years old at the time “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” was filmed. She is the oldest actress to ever portray a Hogwarts student.

2. Only Alan Rickman, the actor who played Professor Snape, knew his character’s fate before the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” because Rowling told him.

3. Ron Weasley’s character originally swore a lot, but Rowling’s publisher wouldn’t let her use that sort of language because it would’ve been inappropriate for young readers.

4. Fred and George were born on April Fool’s Day.

5. When Voldemort died in the Battle of Hogwarts, he was 71 years old.

6. The number that Arthur Weasley enters in the phone booth to get to the Ministry of Magic with Harry is 6-2-4-4-2. The letters underneath those numbers on a standard telephone keypad spell out magic.

7. Harry and Ron both became Aurors and completely changed the department.

8. After Hogwarts, Ginny Weasley became a professional Quidditch player When she later had her first son with Harry, she joined the sports editorial staff of the Daily Prophet.

9. After Hogwarts, Luna Lovegood became a naturalist and during her work met Rolf Scamander, whom she later married. Rolf Scamander’s grandfather is Newt Scamander, the hero of the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

10. Before the filming of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, director Alfonso Cuarón had his three main actors write an essay about their characters. Emma Watson wrote 16 pages about Hermione, Daniel Radcliffe wrote a page about Harry, and Rupert Grint never delivered even a single sentence.
